Land Acknowledgement

The Duck Store locations in Eugene are located on Kalapuya Ilihi, the traditional lands of the Kalapuya people. Today, their descendants are citizens of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.

Our locations in the Portland area are located on the traditional lands of the Chinook, Clackamas, Kalapuya, Kathlamet, Molalla, Multnomah, Tualatin, and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River. Their descendants are citizens of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, as well as the Chinook Nation and Cowlitz Nation in Washington State.

Through this acknowledgement, we reflect on the history of forced removal by the United States government of Indigenous peoples from their ancestral homelands. Our presence here is a legacy of those events and policies. We recognize that a land acknowledgement is only one step in the work that needs to be done to promote Indigenous visibility and empowerment.

We express our deep respect for the people who have stewarded this land throughout the generations, the federally recognized tribal nations of Oregon, and all other displaced Indigenous peoples who call Oregon home and make invaluable contributions to our society.
