Latin Honors

The Dean's List is announced after each fall, winter, and spring term. To qualify, a student much be an admitted undergraduate, complete at least 12 credits taken for a letter grade during the term, and have a term GPA of 3.75 or better. Credits deducted do not count toward the minimum number of credits. Grade changes recorded through the second week of the subsequent term resulting in a change to the term GPA may affect the Dean's List notation (removal or addition).

Graduating seniors who have earned at least 90 credits in residence at the University of Oregon and have successfully completed all other university degree requirements are eligible for graduation with Latin honors. These distinctions are determined by the Office of the Registrar, and are based on the following percentile rankings in each graduating class.

Latin Honors Cord Eligibility List

The Office of the Registrar sends Latin Honors lists of qualifying students for Summa, Magna & Cum Laude in May. This list is kept on file with the Duck Store and updated throughout spring term. Students can purchase their cord directly on our website; please see instructions below. If you purchase the wrong cord, or if your name is not on our list approved by the Registrar's Office, you will receive an email. Please direct all questions regarding eligibility to the Registrar's Office.

Departmental Honors

Many departments at the University of Oregon offer a bachelor’s degree with honors in the academic major. Students may graduate with honors in the following majors:

• College of Arts and Sciences—anthropology; biochemistry; biology; chemistry; Chinese; cinema studies; classics; comparative literature; computer science; earth sciences; economics; English; environmental science; environmental studies; ethnic studies; French; general science; general social science; geography; German; history; humanities; human physiology, international studies; Italian; Japanese; linguistics; marine biology; mathematics; medieval studies; philosophy; physics; political science; psychology; religious studies; Romance languages; Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies; sociology; Spanish; theater arts; women's, gender, and sexuality studies.
• Charles H. Lundquist College of Business—accounting; business administration.
• College of Design—art history; planning, public policy and management.
• School of Journalism and Communication—journalism: advertising; journalism: media studies; journalism: public relations.

If you purchase the wrong cord, or if your name is not on our list approved by the department, you will receive an email. Please direct all questions regarding eligibility to your department office.

• Search for Double Honor Cords in the search bar
• See color chart for corresponding honor cord color
• Add cord to cart
• Navigate to cart and acknowledge the terms and conditions
• Proceed to checkout

Purchasing Your Honor Cord In-Store

Honor cords are available to purchase in-store after lists are released. Visit our Customer Service counter located at the back of our ground floor and inquire with our team. Our staff will verify your eligibility and assist you with purchasing your Latin or departmental honor cord.
