Cross stitch fabric comes in 14 (big) or 28 (small) count. You will need: DMC embroidery floss, an embroidery needle, wooden embroidery hoop and a needle minder.
Aida cloth is fabric used specifically for cross-stitch. It is made in such a way that there are regular gaps or squares in the fabric. The options range from 6 count to 36 count. The count refers to the number of holes or squares per inch of fabric. The smaller the number, the larger your project will be. The most common options range between 14 and 28.
All projects use DMC brand embroidery floss, which comes in a wide variety of colors. You can find wooden hoops in almost any size.
There are cross stitch kits available at our store (including this bird one above). They are on 14 count aida fabric.

You can use any yarn and crochet hook size that you prefer, this one was made with 5.5mm yarn and hook.
