It has come to a point where the inside of a fridge is warmer than the outdoor temperature. It’s foggy, rainy and cloudy a lot of the time, so how do you stay warm and active during those cold seasons?
Thankfully, you’ve come to the right place. As a full-time Oregonian, I am well versed in surviving in this temperature, and I am here to share my knowledge with you.
1: Layering
Start with a polyester, wool or nylon base. These materials are breathable and won’t let your sweat cool you down. Then, put on an insulating layer. This could be a jumper, hoodie or anything that can trap the air. Check out some of our latest hoodies styles of the season.
At this point, you are mostly set to step outside, but just for extra precaution, I like to put on a third waterproof layer. In the end, it’s all about layering like a polar bear when it’s freezing outside.
2: Keeping your head + hands warm
Having a cold head is uncomfortable, and the cold can dry out your skin. Wearing a hat is the go-to method for preserving heat and wearing a winter hat or a scarf is the easiest way to do so. Our Donegal Bay gloves can keep your hands warm while being able to use your phone.
3: Nutrition
One way to raise your internal body temperature in a wintery climate is to consume things that will do so. This could be drinking hot tea or coffee or even eating something spicy, and you can always stop by The Duck Store cafe to get yourself some warm beverages after class.
Staying warm in Oregon all comes down to being prepared and making smart choices. By maintaining your body heat and staying warm, these tips should help you be prepared to walk into the cold at any time. Winter can be a wonderful season, and staying warm can help you enjoy the beauty of winter!
