Latinx Studies Fund - $5

Product Code: Latinx Studies Fund - $5

In fall 2020, the University of Oregon launched the Latinx Studies Program, an initiative led by faculty. This makes the UO one of just two Oregon universities offering such a program—and a national leader.

The program offers a minor in Latinx studies which introduces students to the diverse perspectives, histories, and contemporary experiences of Latinx communities in the US and Latin America. The minor is interdisciplinary, meaning students take courses from a variety of different fields within the humanities, social sciences, and professional schools. The diversity of courses offered in the minor enable students to complement their major with deeper cultural understanding and language skills that will open career paths in many different professions.

With your donation, you can help the Latinx studies program flourish by enhancing resources and providing experiential learning opportunities, allowing students to achieve their academic and career goals. Gifts to the Latinx Studies Program unrestricted fund may be used to support the following impact areas:

  • New academic opportunities
  • Experiential learning programs
  • New mentorship program, in conjunction with Latinx ARC
  • Student Research Symposia
  • Networking events
  • Panels and speaker series
  • Graduate students
  • Programs with university and community partners
Contributions to this fund provide discretionary dollars that can be used in many different ways. This flexible funding enables the program to stay nimble, respond quickly to new opportunities, and overcome unanticipated obstacles to success.
